What is Leasing?
A lease is a contract for use of a vehicle for a specified period of time, for an agreed upon periodic payment.
* Leasing allows the customer to drive his/her vehicle of choice without ownership. Lessees with a purchase option may choose to prrchase the vehicle at the end of the lease term.
* The customer pays for the value of the vehicle used over the term rather than paying for the value of the entire vehicle.
* Title to the vehicle remains with Ford Credit, the legal owner of the vehicle.
Lease payments are based on the price of the vehicle minus its lease-end value (the amount Ford Credit determines the car be worth at lease termination). Lease payments also include rent charges based on the full cost of the vehicle.
Lease Versus Retail Financing?
Customers choose leasing over retail financing for several reasons.
* Low intial cost - Leasing often requires no down payment. At lease inception the leasee is required to pay the first monthly payment and a security deposit equal to about one monthly payment.
* Low monthly payments - Instead of paying the full life value of the vehicle, the lease customer pays only the value of the vehicle used over the lease term.
* No trade-in hassle - The lease-end residual value is estabilished at the beginning of the lease and is often referred to as a "guaranteed future value." Ford Credit assumes the risk that the vehicle will be worth the lease-end value so long as proper care for the vehicle is provided. The lessee is never "upside down" at the end of the lease due to a weak used car market because they don't take on this risk.
* Built in GAP protection - At no extra cost, your lease includes Guaranteed Auto Protection (GAP) waiver. In case your leased vehicle is totaled or stolen.
* Shortened trading cycle - The customer may choose to get a new car more often with leasing (when compared to financing). In addition, to achieve the same payment on retail financing as compared to a short-term lease, requires a much longer retail financing term.
* More car - Leasing is popular because customers may be able to drive more car for the monthly lease payment. Instead of sttling for the car they can afford with a long-term retail financing payment, customers may choose to upgrade for about the same payment and get the car they want through leasing.
Options at lease-end - When the lease is completed as agreed, the lessee has three attractive options at lease-end.
1. Return the vehicle and lease another Ford vehicle.
2. Purchase the car for the pre-established price and sell it if it is worth more than the purchase price and keep any profit.
3. Return the vehicle to the orginal leasing dealer and "walk away."

The lease end checklist: Lease your next vehicle without hassles or surprises.
Before The End Of The Lease
* Your Red Carpet lease on your Ford vehicle is about to end and we want to make sure that your lease-end experience is quick and easy. Approximately four months prior to the end of your lease Ford Credit will mail you a lease-end informational brochure that provides detailed instructiions on the lease end process, including a Wear and Use Evaluator and the latest line-up of Ford Vehicles.
* The Wear and Use Evaluatore will help you to determine if you have excess wear and use on your vehicle. If you have excess wear and use on your vehicle, you may make any necessary repairs prior to returning your vehicle. Remember, your vehicle insurance may cover some costs.
* If you are planning to return your leased vehicle the condition of your vehicle will be assessed either by your dealer or by a vehicle inspection company authorized by Ford Credit. About one month prior to your lease-end date, contact your dealer to discuss your vehicle's wear and use assessment. A few weeks before your scheduled lease-end date a Ford customer service representative or your dealer may call you to answer any questions you might have about ending your contract. You may also receive a call about special offers and benefits available to Red Crapet Lease customers who renew into another Ford vehicle.

Vehicle Inspection
Expect a fast turnaround. Freedom Ford or your assigned vehicle inspection company will check all vehicle parts in an inspection. Remember, normal wear and use like small dents and scratches won't warrant a charge, but damage considered excessive will be charged. It's also a good ideal to check your mileage prior to lease-end to assess if you will be over your mileage allowance. Your dealer will check the odometer for excess mileage. Customers who exceed the mileage allowance will incur an excess mileage charge. As a reminder, excess mileage use or mileage charges will be due at lease-end. For additional information on normal wear and use, visit www.fordcredit.com/wearanduse or contact Larry Martinez at (800) 657-1482 ext 6411
